Futuristic BMW

For now this futuristic BMW is just a concept car designed by BMW to celebrate it’s 30 year anniversary for the BMW M1. This BMW M1 Hommage has a very aggressive look, with retro features mixed with with very modern elements.
Although I thought that this is a designed car, the car is not computer generated. This is a real model with no interior, but “bad blending” and “fake shadows” doesn’t make sense in real life.

CES 2008- Graham Rahal

BMW has one of their 2007 cars with driver Graham Rahal at the wheel. The course that’s set up is a straightaway with a circle at each where Graham gets to demonstrate that traditional driving skill known as the donut.

Aside from the ear piercing shriek of an F1 engine, perhaps the most impressive feat here was the way Rahal was able to keep the car off the guard-rails in this confined space. Very cool! Follow the jump for a video of the demonstration.

BMW M5 Twin Turbo by Currency Motor Cars

Currency Motor Cars, from US mounted on the V10 engine, from M5, 2 turbines and an efficient intercooler system. With these new improvements, the maximum power can reach 810 hp. Amazing, huh?
The maximum speed that the luxury sedan can reach is of 386 km/h or 240 mph.

BMW 3.0 engine

BMW presented some time ago the 3 liter biturbo engine.

BMW 3.0 engine features:

- 6 cylinders in line;
- 3.0 liter;
- two turbochargers;
- direct High Precision Injection;
- made of aluminum;
- power: 306 hp;
- torque: 400 Nm at 1,500 – 5,800 rpm.
BMW says that this engine was made especially to reduce the weight and rise the efficiency. Good work, guys!

BMW Motorrad in China

BMW Motorrad made one BMW center in China and it is planning to involve acceleration on the Asian market, regarding its sellings.
The Boxer Café center is situated in Chongqing city and wants to be more than just a simple showroom.

The complex wants to be the center point for motorcycle lovers.
Boxer Café is the second selling center for BMW motorcycles, in China, after the Peking one. German constructor took this decision, because Chinese motor market is expanding and is dominated by small motorcycles.
BMW hopes that strong and powerful motorcycles to create a new life style for its lovers.

The new center is created together with a local partner, named LONCIN, which has a motor division that is producing almost one million motorcycles in a year. Chongqing city was chosen because its nearest places concentrates almost 6 million motorcycles on year, many Japanese producers and suppliers having centers near this city.

BMW bought Husqvarna

The German producer bought Husqvarna’s motorcycle production division.
BMW Motorrad wants to impress with light weight motorcycle production, Husqvarna’s specialization, to attract young people.
BMW announce that Husqvarna will keep their identity and will not make any changes to their production line (from Italy). This transaction doesn’t involve employees dismiss from Husqvarna factory.

The Germans will take advantage of Husqvarna’s distribution line, specialized on light weight motorcycles and of their know-how regarding motorsport.
BMW Motorrad produced, last year over 100,000 motorcycles, only engines with over 500 cc.
On the other way, Husqvarna (which is a part of MV Agusta) produced over 12,000 motorcycles with engines between 125 cc and 610 cc, most of them with only one cylinder.

BMW GP3.10

AC Schnitzer is a well known BMW tuning company and they presented the advantage of LPG, at the highest level.The German tuner took the V10 engine from BMW M5 and M6, mounted on a coupe from 3 Series and adapted to work on LPG.
Changes were made to the charging system, to the control electronics of the engine and to evacuation system.
The concept is called BMW GP3.10 and the V10 propeller could work on gas and LPG, also and the conversion can be made in any moment.

What are the results of a BMW with LPG?
Well, the CO2 emissions are smaller, cheaper price for the carburant and higher power with 45 hp more than the series version! The maximum power reached 552 hp and the maximum torque is of 540 Nm. I could say that performances are unbelievable: accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds, form 0 to 200 km/h in 13.9 seconds and the top speed is of 320 km/h.
The car is unique, for now and it cost €198,000.

BMW M3 Sedan news

BMW presented second version of sporty M3 Sedan, which competes against Audi RS4. BMW wants to offer models for a higher market segment and to make more clients for this new model.
From all four BMW M3 generation, offered until now, only two had made in Sedan version: second and the actual one.
BMW made few changes to its sporty model to transform it in a perfect Sedan.

BMW M3 Sedan has a 4 liter V8 engine, which develops 420 hp at 8,300 rpm and 400 Nm at 3,900 rpm. It accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 4.9 seconds, with only 0.1 second less than the coupe.

3 Interior Design Concepts from BMW at DESIGNMAI 2007

At DESIGNMAI 2007, in Berlin, BMW Group presented 3 interesting design interior concepts. They have showing how creativity of designers and analytic skills of scientists can lead to interesting new theories.
The exhibited items show how specific forms and structures affect people’s perception. BMW Group will use these scientific findings & design realizations for interior design guidance when designing new vehicles.

Concept 1: “Concentration”

This object shows how human eye can be forced to focus. Concept 1 is a funnel- shaped object with a heterogeneous surface made of numerous different tiles. With increasing distance from viewer the tiles’ size decreases – forcing human eyes & brain to be more focused.

Concept 2: “Relatedness”

Concept 2 offers the arrangement of two seats in opposite line of sight, producing a particularly high relatedness – especially since optical contact does not exist, yet the both seats are a part of single curved structure.

Concept 3: “Concinnity”

Concept 3 represents balance, by the integration of seat and armrests into a structure consisting of several layers. The layered structure with free spaces between the levels leads to a balance between fullness and emptiness.

The 2008 BMW 135i Coupe has a performance V6, twin turbo engine which can develop 300 hp at 5,800 rpm. The maximum torque is of 407 Nm at 1,400- 5,000 rpm. BMW 135i Coupe can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.3 seconds and has an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h.
The car weights 1,560 kg, has 18 inch rims, 215/40 R18 – 245/35 R18 tires, sport suspension and Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) as a standard model.
